Water Seeks Its Own Level

When I was a child my parents used to say things to me like "water seeks it's own level" and "if you lie down you get fleas", stuff like that to try and steer me away from hanging out with the wrong crowds and stuff, but more than that would teach me to be a better man as a whole. As I look back at my life I am now able to see the truth in those statements. When I was a teenager and I ran amuck causing trouble and spreading negativity, all the people who I met and who I had around me were doing the same things as I was. I had this belief that EVERYONE in the world was like us and I thought that there just weren't teenagers who don't do drugs or drink or get into fights. I had been attracting exactly what I was even in the very random instances like when I met someone in a gas station or at a club. Every person that I was drawing to me in my universe were lowlifes and people that were screwing up and making the same mistakes that I was.

Gratefully, with maturity most of my friends have changed and grown up and become wonderful productive people. Although some of my friends have fallen by the wayside, the ones who are still in my life are for the most part doing well, for that I am gratefully. But there is more to it all, when I look at my life today I notice that I am a completely different person than I was back then. I notice that I can totally see who I have become, by looking at who are my friends now and pay attention to the people who are drawn to me. It's so amazing, the friends that I meet nowadays are kind and giving people, people who are non-violent. I attract a lot of people who have been through the ringer, but who changed their lives at some point. I am attracting people who want to make the world a better place in life, really genuine people. I also can look at my life and see what friends are still in it and see the same thing. I am amazed at how we almost like magnets, really draw people like us into our world. To me that makes life all the better.

At one point in my life I could dial up any of 20 different people (no exaggeration here) and get cocaine in large or small quantity and I was always meeting more. I con honestly and pridefully say that if I wanted to do cocaine today, or even this week, it would be really difficult to do and I would probably get robbed and/or ripped off. This is a perfect example of what happens and who you draw near you when you are behaving in a certain way. As a kid, I used to have, do and sell cocaine all of the time. No big deal. I thought everyone did cocaine and that my mother was nuts for thinking that it was a bad thing. Now, with age I have become much different and my mistakes have made me loathe that drug and those types of people just don't like me anymore. THAT is a good thing.

So what I can tell you that those annoying statements by my parents when I was a kid may have been annoying, but they were true and I am so glad that I had parents who cared to say things like that to me!!

Thanks MOM and DAD~!!
I think I'm gonna rise to the top!!!
